It's me again....while I was there, they have a complete turbo package for $3960 FITTED complete with nothing extra...this also includes all the fuel and other adjustments necessary and dyno tested with a written performance report and a "expected" power increase of around 40%. Questions.... 1. what do you think....looks alright to me..so tell me and 2. will my fuel consumption increase with it and 3.any negatives...( to fit gas/diesel the estimate was about $5K, and I know about the rebates, with an expected power increase of 15% only for a non turbo engine)thanks Phil

diesel/gas will reduce your running costs.
And if you turbo it, your consumption will stay the same if you don't have a heavy foot...

Phil,
I have an after market turbo on my 80 Series, in response to your question:
1.
Mine cost me just under $3000 ($2800 I think) in 2002
2. Fuel consumption stays the same depending on your foot - with your new power you will initially tend to drive it harder. What you will notice is that when you need the power it is there and that's where you make your saving - i.e. overtaking, towing, going up
hill etc
3. Is it worth it - yes.
IMHO I am not sold on the diesel gas yet as gas is still not available everywhere.

Phil
I work for
United Fuel injection in
Perth and fit both aftermarket turbo kits/Gas kits to diesel 4WD's daily mate.
Power increase of 40%,not sure about that, ours go from STD say around 80-85Kw to 100-110Kw depending on the engine,And from around 275Nm to 330Nm also depending on the engine.
Now gas will lift both these figures, power to around 120Kw and torque to around 360Nm,now once again they all depend on the condition of the engine.
The gas sytems can be tuned for extra economy or longer range from your diesel tank/or extra power depending on what you want.
Fuel consumption SHOULD not increase as other have said but you will tend to USE the extra power you have until you realise that it will now do the same job at less throttle than it did previously,
Anyhow good luck with it.
Matt

Phillip,
I had a Turbo-Glide System fitted to my GQ almost 2 years ago and love it!
Mine was $4000 fitted, plus $1000 for a full service, tune, injectors service and pyrometer and boost guages. My fuel consumption hasn't altered much, although I kinda have the view that in order to enjoy our travels and 4 wheeling, I have to fill the tanks up! But the difference in power is the thing for me... we towed our Cavalier CT pre-turbo and the truck struggled but now it is so much easier to drive, we can cruise along at 100 kph even with the trailler!
IMO worth every cent!
cheers
Brian

What vehicle and turbo we are talking about?
In my observation aftermarket turbo will make no noticeable difference in fuel consumption (either positive or negative), but generate heaps much more torque. If you talking about 80 series and DTS turbo, then price looks OK to me *IF* they will fit turbocompensator to high-pressure pump. If not I do not think so. What’s regarding to dyno-test and written performance report I would not bother myself to do it even if it is totally free – rather live it to street-machine funs, as least they can stick this piece of paper on rear window and proudly show it to buddies in the pub. But to whom I would show it in the bush?!? I am after real-life improvements rather then useless numbers and graphs.
Negatives? Money spend to install.Otherwise none.
Cheers.

I have done both the turbo and gas injection and would recommend it.
