i have recently noticed that the troop carriers with the 1hz and also the newer EFI TD engines have the spare wheel mounted on the larger
barn door, exactly the same as a patrol.
has anyone tryed doing this to 100 series poverty pack? is there reinforcing in the door to fit and would the hinges be strong enough???

Nope
The hinges and door where never engineered for such weight, nor did any
barn doored 100 series ever came with spares on doors

the large door on a troopy (and a 76 wagon for that matter) is full of reinforcing to take the weight of the spare.
It would take a lot of work to beef up a 100 series door to take the same amount of weight.
for the jap market there is a factory swing out carrier which mounts on the edge of the rear guard/pillar, the 80 series for the jap market had the same setup.
they are sold locally through www.powerful.com.au but you still need to reinforce the pillar to take the weight.

Your best option is to go for an aftermarket swing away wheel carrier. Door mounted spares make the door heavy to operate and they tend to sag over time, more so if you do a lot of offroad/corragated gravel roads etc. You may also find the door seals leak more dust.

Bigaz, have a look at thread 51040.
I have been looking at swing away carriers for my 75 series and several helpful members have added good info on suppliers etc. on that thread.
