I want to buy a 2001 Nissan Patrol. 3.0 Lt Turbo Diesel. The original motor blew up which was replaced with a 2003 motor.
Apparently there were two types of engines used between 1999 to about 2003.
One with rubber timing belt and the other with timing chain.
Is this correct, what are the year dates and how do you tell the difference?
Can anyone advise please?
Cheers
Barra

All ZD30 engines run a single row timing chain.
The 2.8 diesel which was discontinued in 1999 runs the rubber timing belt.
