I have searched the trek notes and can't find anything but I am sure that I have seen some notes on a track from Bright to I think Sale? Does anyone have any knowledge of this route?
Many Thanks

Graham,

I haven't seen a specific trek note for this trip but there are a few options depending on whether you are towing, in a 'real' 4WD or a soft-roader.

A couple of tracks come to mind - High Plains Road to Dargo, Crooked River Rd, Billy Goats Bluff Tk, Marathon Rd to Briagolong, then blacktop to Sale.

You could also go down to Swift's Creek from Hotham and work your way to Dargo and then as above.

Plenty of options, just remember that Tamboritha Road (bitumen section) is closed until October 2008 - so you can't get to Licola from the North.

PM if you need more directions.

Hello Graham.
Not sure if you are after a 4x4 track or just plain roads.

Bitumen road: Great Alpine Road: Bright - Harrietville - Mt Hotham - Omeo - Bruthen - Bainsdale - Sale. All bitumen. All high quality & scenic road.

Bitumen & gravel road: Great Alpine Road: Bright - Harrietville almost to Mt Hotham. Turn off before Mt Hotham to Dargo via Dargo high plains road. Quality gravel mountain road to Dargo. Bitumen road from Dargo to Princess highway between Bainsdale & Sale.

Some alternative minor 2 wheel drive gravel road options available between lower Dargo & Briagalong. * Freestone Creek road. * Beverley's road.

Hi Graham

Depending on how much time you have to do this trip, there are two publications that you would find helpful:
. the Hema Maps "High Country - Victoria" map
. the Craig Lewis and Cathy Savage book - "4WD Tracks of the High Country".

Both publications extensively cover the territiory you've mentioned.
