Hi all,

My wife and i just purchased a 04 gxl prado really happy with it. Just a question abou the bonnet it seems to rattle a little when driving. Not so much a noise but you can see it moving a little. The clip doesnt seem to be holding? Has anyone had any experiences or heard of this happening? Any possible solutions?

Yeah its commong.
If you lift the bonnet and have a look in the front corner on either side you will see a round rubber piece. If you grabe this piece and screw it out a turn and then close the bonnet. That should secure it for you. These are the bonnet stops or rests what ever you want to call it.
Hope this helps
Scott

When you say the bonnet is moving..... is that in relation to the bullbar (if you have one that is!)?

On our prado we have the alloy factory bullbar and it does move around quite a lot on rougher roads and at first it did look a bit like the bonnet was moving up and down a bit.

Cheers

The later model Prado's are also prone to body and chassis cracks when fitted with bullbars and winches, especially if used for what they were 'designed' for.

I think you will find its more the suspension set up than bars and winches. I have had an ARB steel bar with 9500 lb winch fitted from new and have had no cracks. I do run lovells and bilsteins which seem to do the trick.
Stock suspension are the ones that crack.
