Windsor Rapid Rain & Storm Noise on Van Roof??

Just like a caravn, sounds like popcorn unless it gets realy heavy.

I was in my Rapid on a particularly bad storm (our campfire ended up underwater with the flooding!) and while it was loud, it was that volume throughout the entire van ie. under the insulated fiberglass roof or the van ends.

The sound of the wind was arguably louder than the rain and when its raining that heavy, you normally have a decent wind blowing and I would certainly prefer a metal roof over my head than a canvas one in those circumstances.

I now have the Camprite camper and when it rains on the canvas, I reckon its louder than the metal roof of the Rapid. But the bottom line is that neither have that great an advantage that I would even worry about it.

PS. Unlikely that the Jayco owner has slept in a Rapid with heavy rain, sounds more like he has theorised this to justify it!

Like the others said, there is nothing to worry about at all as the end panel is insulated and no louder than any other part of the van. One big benefit of the Windsor is that if the rain is falling vertically, the canvas most times does not get wet any way, and if it does, when you fold it up the canvas is sandwiched between the metal ends and does not come into contact with anything else unlike the Jayco's design. The whole Windsor van for me has been brilliant and i've taken it to many radical places. Tough reliable and a great purchase.

Then again the sound of rain on canvas is one of those lovely things that go with camping.

The smell of the earth, and the bush, the sound of the birds, and the possums as they try to open the fridge. The sound and smell of the rain as it comes through the bush and finally lands on your camp, followed by the smell of the evaporating water when the sun comes out after the rain has gone. All part of why I get out of town every chance I get.

If it didn't make a noise you might as well stay at home.
