Hi all....I am looking for some advice about travelling WA. I'm an SA lad, and bought my first 4wd a couple of months ago. It's a 1997 80 series Landcruiser. At the moment I am lining up a job on a station for seeding next year, somewhere near esperance. Have never been to WA before and really have no idea where to head after this?!

Can anyone give me some ideas about places that are worth a visit? I am going to be travelling and working so need to find work where-ever I go on my adventures.

Hi Doon

There is a publication called National Harvest Labour Service that is a guide to working your way around Australia which may be of help to you. phone number 1800 062 332 or www.jobsearch.gov.au/harvesttrail
There are many places worth a visit in WA check out in the places section of this site.
Enjoy your travels

It depends what time of year you're over here in the west, and how long you've got.

During the summer months, the south west corner is ideal (as it's the wet season up north). Depending on what work you want to do, the wineries and restraunts are always after casual staff. (Was down that way a few weeks ago, and one of the wineries didn't have their restraunt open, due to being unable to get enough staff to run it).

During the winter, up north (pilbara or kimberly is great). Can often get work in mining towns. All depends on your skills, what you're prepared to do, etc.

You've got to be trying pretty hard NOT to work over here at the moment.

Hope the info is of some help.

Thanks for the websites everyone I will check'em out. I'm coming over for seeding to begin with so probably be there march/april next year. Then I got all the time in the world...am going to travel around Aust. Not really fussy on the kind of work, so long as I make enough to live off of, I'll be happy. Sounds like there is plenty of work around if your willing?!

If anyone has any contacts for work or anything get in touch with me, I am young, fit and no stranger to a bit of hard work!

Cheers

For starters especially if you are east of esperance around condingyp all the beaches south heading east of there are some of the best in OZ.
Youd be best to stay away from places like Kalgoorlie if you are intending to travel.
Many a person you meet there was just passing through at the time on there way around OZ but that was as far as they got.
It would make it very hard to go back to Farming pay or fruit picking, Pub work etc after that

Thanks Davoe. Yer I know a couple of people that had big plans to travel and only got as far as Kalgoorlie and that was it haha. As much as the money would be nice...I'd rather see this big country of ours at the moment. Cheers for the advice.

Doug

Sorry it took me a bit to reply...been flatout at work. Where is Dalwallinu??

I'm not familiar with it at all. 28000 acres....hmm bit bigger place than where I'm from. A big farm in my area is more like 5000 - 6000 acres haha. I have a bit of knowledge, I grew up on a farm but have been out working as a Maintenance Manager most of my working life. Makes me sound old, haha I'm only 23.
