Just completed a trip from
Tweed heads to Eyre and
York peninsula towing a 4.85 trailcraft alum runabout behind a new Ford
Ranger 3L Auto TD tray top. Averaged 16.68litres/100 southbound with the boat only behind average speed around 95kph. Picked up and Adventure Camper tray top camper in
Adelaide and then spent 6 weeks touring, fishing and
camping on the
York and Eyre Peninsulas when we added the tray top fuel consumption averaged 17.50 litres /100 also decided to add Ironman Load plus helper springs in
Port Pirie to spread load more evenly. For Excel spreadsheet with more details of the figure breakdown go to "Members File Swap" section on this site.

Thats a hell of a trip. Whats the consumption like when your'e not towing? The reason I ask is that we regularly tow a 5.8m (1600kg + 80L fuel and ski gear) ski boat with our 5.7L AWD Adventra and we average 16.9L/100. And it's mostly through hilly windy areas. In fact, we have averaged about 16L/100 over the life of the car so far. Mind you, we had a 4.2D GQ Patrol that was really fuel efficient for its size. Averaged 12.something on a trip to Innaminka a few years back. But when towing the boat it sucked diesel like there was no tomorrow.
Just wondering. BTW, whats the
Ranger like?

Fuel consumption around town without a load is 13litres/100 around town. Consumption rises quiet dramatically when you push up over 90kph when loaded particularly in the hilly country. Very Happy with
Ranger so far we have clocked up the first 13000km since taking delivery in June 07
