Hi All, anyone know how to get a spammer off my tail ? its from a mob trying to sell me movies, in bermuda I think, anyhow I've tried the usual {begging , pleading , etc} thier not listening, unfortunately the "report spam" site I;ve got only covers Oz' I've tried connecting THEM up to a gay porn site to return the compliment but they've got a block on that so thier a bit smarter than the average spammer, but enough is enough i want shot of them permanently,
any help is appreciated,

Dave

Dave,
If you have answered any I am afraid it might be too late, once they know they have hit an address that responds they keep going. I made that mistake once and it wasn`t until I changed I.P.and got a new email address that I stopped getting them.
I still get the odd one that will have an address that is jumbled trying to get a response. I DELETE IT straight away. I know of no other way, sorry.
regards and good luck,
Scrubcat.

Hi Dave
Trying to reason with these guys only allows them to confirm that there is a real person (you) on the end of probably millions of emails they sent across the internet.
What I do is add their email address to my "Junk Email" list - any email I then receive is automatically deleted.
Good luck!
George

Spam yep a problem. I had a problem a while ago with some woman sending me offensive emails and I found an Ozzie Govt Dept website that dealt with it pronto and for the life of me I can't find it again.
Also "Spam Terrier" available here;
http://www.tucows.com/preview/511387
There is also another program that I downloaded from Tucows that "challenged" the spammers and returned their spam with other spam and sent details of their address to someone else and actually spammed the spammers it worked
well with most spammers who took my email from their lists. Once again I can't remember what it was called but try:

STEVEN 4.1 is probably the most sophisticated at over 9Mb but it is brilliant:

All are free to download, just a matter of finding one that suits you....

My ISP (Westnet) has a good Spam blocking service, and Outlook picks up most of the strays that occasionally get through.
As
well as stopping all the mail sending me offers to enlarge parts of me that don't exist, I can set up with the Westnet service to block any specific addresses, or let certain addresses they pick up come through (eg someone sending a travel newsletter to a large number of family and friends).
In Outlook i can 'create rule' which sends them straight into my delete box should they send to me again if i don't stop them coming to me through Westnet. The Spam service is better, as they won't bother me when checking mail if away from home.

10/10 for your answer, I won't bother reading any furtherbecause yours is the most sensible and spot on , Westnet is brilliant in all aspects, Oh how I wish they would setup wireless I would be back with them in a flash.Westnet rates and what you get for the dollar are far superior to Bigpond .

Motherhen, I as a bloke find it offensive that all these people keep telling me I need a larger bit and I should buy their product to do it..... I only need a magnifying glass to make it "look up to 3 times bigger"
The trick with Spam is to stop it before it even has the chance to download.

Dave, I have set up my email program to just download the headers and I delete the ones I don't want staright from the email client. Otherwise you can dowload
Mailwasher Free or Pro and use that to bounce the emails back or at least simulate that.

Dave we use Mailwasher Pro to filter all our emails because we have a fair few email addresses, once you learn and I say learn Mailwasher Pro you understand how to configure it to get ride of spam...you create rules for Mailwasher Pro to follow and it is very accurate.
You can set it up to fully auto delete certian email addresses or words in the subject line....if it does it to the wrong one you can retreive the deleted email through Mailwasher at a later date
You can down load a version for free and try it,if you do and want to know who to configure it give me a yell.
DO NOT REPLY OR TRY AND REASON WITH SPAMMERS it only make it worse.

I suggest getting your own domain (.au is $25-28/2years) and some good hosting (about $10/year) with boxtrapper.
Rarely get spam...

OK
Domains

Hosting is up to you I am bias (run my own hosting service).
Usually US server with cpanel with boxtrapper - note there are alot of dodgy hosting servers out there. I pay a premium for 99.9% uptime and seperate email servers.

If they get your email address they will spam you even with your own domain name and there is very little you can do.
The only advantage with owning your own domain name is you can set up a catch all account......with a catch all account you get more spam mail.

With boxtrapper the person sending has to register with the server (the incoming email address is sent an email by the server with a html link to click to register the sender's email) reply address is real - therefore spam is rare as most spammers send from fake return email addresses. Out of about 100 to 500 spam emails each day, I may get about 0 to 3 spam emails delivered in a month.
Particular sender email address you can add to a whitelist yourself or whitelist an email if your expecting it.
I do not recommend catch-all (:fail: no such user!) - better off with forwarding or separate email accounts of only the emails addresses you wish to use.
