does anyone know if the magellan explorist XL or 600 has a.v out socket for external monitors . thanks. sam

Hello - no they dont. I am not aware of any handheld gps that does.

I've yet to see a GPS with AV Out. Think you'll find that USB connection is 'the norm'.

Not clear on what you're trying to do, Sam.
My Garmin Etrex, which is an entry level hand held GPS has a USB socket and cord.
Plugs into the computer at home. Can access OziExplorer. Upload and download waypoints, route map, communicate with the oziExplorer map.
Is that what you're looking for?

i want to send the 'navigation picture' to a larger screen without using a laptop, but still being able to use the gps as a handheld device when walking
