Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Perhaps I can help someone else in the future by recounting my experience.
This happened before on RHS and I foolishly kept trying to use the window - result - One of the two brackets on the bottom of the window that fit into the regulator channel had broken and by keeping using it I also broke the regulator - New window (brackets do not come as separate part) $500 : Plus new regulator and labour = $900.
This time did not do anything apart from pulling the glass up to keep weather out - Clamp had broken - result - New window - Price for part and labour $600.
Holden dealer was sympathetic and I went away and bought a second hand window for $125 and they then fitted it for $80.
Total cost $205.
This is a weakness in jacks compounded by the fact that the clamps are bonded on and do not come as separate parts.
I am locking the windows from now on and just using the drivers.
Again my thanks to all.
Yenchy.
