My Patrol has coils in the front and leaf springs in the back. The car could do with at least 2 inches more ground clearance.
What do I do? Take it somewhere and get it done or can I buy a kit and do it myself?

Thanks
Reiner

Have a talk to ARB or other suspension suppliers. I had an ARB 50mm kit fitted to my GQ 65,000km ago and it has performed well. The kit included coils and shocks for around $1200.

Can I ask you a simple non agressive question, you say it could do with 2 inches more clearance, my question is WHY, ...why just 2 inches , 2 inches is not much to worry about , if your looking for a number wouldn't 6 inches be better, ....laws.....,
But 2 inches , not worth muckin' around with, but it is your car, I was just wondering that's all .

Doug, at the moment my Patrol looks like a 2 wheel drive. Very low and I measured my Landcruiser and found it is about 50mm higher. I don't do outrageous stuff but do go to the beach a fair bit.
I don't want it to high being a ute, it just gets harder lifting stuff in the back

Hi Doug & Reiner,
Further to "Why only 2 Inches".

As far as I can work out, the only advantage of a 2" lift is that the body will be just a little bit higher therefor easier to get the shovel under when you are stuck on the beach.

IMHO the stopping factor on sand is the diffs and axles bottoming out and a chassis lift will not help in that case. It will help with ramp over angles though.

Taller rims and tyres will lift the axles etc a little bit but will also increase the overall gearing.

Just my 2 bobs worth, FWIW.

Gday reiner,i give IRONMAN a go this time (3rd vehicle ive lifted,OME and PEDDERS previous) ive put it on my new patrol ute (coil cab) 50mm lift with 20 spacers in aswell,i carry a 400 litre fuel tank in the back for work and it sits up well, and whilst empty still has very nice ride.
Check out the prices,i got a shock from ARB's price..
got a friend who has a landcruiser ute (leaf spring all round) had new springs put on in 87 from IRONMAN (diff name then) and he's had no problem.
