Heard a story today about new 'cruiser v8 diesels burning up No. 8 cylinder....sounds kinda scary (and expensive)!

Mechanic behind it says he has seen 4 already.....

Anyone else heard this?

No haven't heard anything like that -we've done about 12,000 klms and no trouble.

Sorry just been corrected - it's done 18,000 klms (I've done about 2.5 down to the shop and back).

Hey Doug
Rocky had 63mm with localised flooding in the CBD.
Just beautiful to watch the lightning and hear the thunder rolling in.

Mobil Carmila makes the best pikelets and home made pies, and real coffee, a great stop.

It was definitely reported on this forum 6 odd months ago. I recall about 3 members/visitors had first hand experience. I can't find that post but have not read/heard another thing about the problem since.

Be kind of hard for reports of trouble 6 mths ago as the v8 s owned by the forum members would be at best 9mths or so old ?? , Its a scare story put about by Nissan 3lt owners ,,LOL.

It wasn't made up Axel. There was genuine concern. I'm just guessing when - not too certain, but it was surprising how soon it was reported. At the time I thought it was probably a teething issue, so it's a bit concerning seeing this post.

V8 Cruisers were only released early April so unlikely they were blowing up 6 months ago. I do vaguely remember one member knowing someone who had an engine failure but no details came to light which is nothing unusual as Toyota are very good at keeping warrenty issues quiet. When I blew my front diff they said they had never seen one of those go before....liar liar pants on fire ;-))
If it becomes common it will come out eventually, until then it's still a rumour being pedalled by leftist Nissan drivers :-)
Cheers Craig........

If you look at followup by Truckster in post 46009 (May 07) he seems to be referring to the post (still cant find it) I saw, and refers to a piston # 8 problem. JD

The pistons may not blow, but the price of the diesel option of the 200 sure blows a hole in your pocket !!!

$10,000 extra for the diesel - see all pricing here
