Another debate...here we go....
I got the TU 550 and so far so good but we dont have a car kit and have only used it once out where it would be needed and the reception was worse than the nokia we used to have.
Not really sre what the Samsung is like but have never liked their set up on the phone....dont like motorola either fo r that....

Haven't had my LG 550 very long but have so far found it much better in rural areas than my old Qualcom CDMA.
TIME WILL TELL?
Have got a external aerial but have not needed it as yet.
Cheers,
Fazz

I have seen Tesltra advertising the LG for $30 month with a car kit for extra $30 to $50 down from $299. Does the car kit include the antenna? I'm about to get one too and was hoping for the Nokia but looks like no car kit yet.

Have the Samsung A412 for about a month. Seems ok in the bush so far. Only
places it dont go the cdma didnt go either, car
kit is available but on present usage, probably wont bother.
Phone was $0 on a $20 plan with $20 calls.....oldbaz.

Hi Baz
Noted Telstra adds recently talking about this phone having ,big buttons , big numbers on screen and wondering these features do the job.
Also does it have reasonable volumne for us -
well me at least- with less than perfect hearing.

Hi Robin, yes numbers & size of same seems fine, backlit when light
is low. Have volume cranked right up...its loud!!!!. Frightened
several kids in
supermarket when it went off. Battery lasts for days
too. Got a case & 12v charger off ebay for $30.....oldbaz.

thanks to those who have replied so far. didn't want to start another debate but a
sign of the times. we are on the road and just want it for those emergencies and so the rug rats can keep in contact and not fret when they don't get through. have been watching other forums, but a lot of bull**** with discussions on colours etc not performance. worried about changing from the old reliable Nokia but not much choice available with telstra, new ones coming out are listed in the high end of the market definitely not looking at the pensioners and those on a tight budget.
so looks like we might bite the bullet and go with the Samsung and get a camera for free tomorrow from harvey norman and Telstra's $100 credit.
if we win lotto we'll just put a hf in the car.
theres a good debate "who's got the winning numbers????" hahaha
happy travelling
