I am buying a Waeco fridge which I wish to carry in the Prado connected to AGM batteries. If we stop for a few hours or longer we want to keep the fridge running, what sort of ventilation is required?
Thanks

As long as the vents around the fridge motor have adequate space, doesn't really matter.
Just keep in mind, inside temps of vehicles left in the sun can be as high as 50deg, That is something which can be difficult to control.
My 80 liter Waeco ran 4 weeks straight (no big deal) locked in the back of my cruiser without probs

There is photo of the temp fridge guage in my rigs

50 deg only .....and the rest
The temperature inside a closed vehicle left in the sun can double within 12 minutes. The temperature inside the vehicle can reach around 73°C, but the dog may be dead by the time the temperature reaches 55°C. The animal will suffer horribly in its last minutes.
But not the fridge

Doug,
You're spot on with the diagnosis of the dog in the closed car on a hot day - not a very nice way to go.
While we're on 'dog safety' can you put the safety chain on the swing for Dusty! - hate to see your little mate go 'splat'! :-)

Thanks. I was concerned about the inside temp and I guess you can leave the window down a bit but wasn't sure if that was adequate for ventilation. I have also heard that the AGM batteries don't need ventilation.

as previously stated as long as fridge vents are clear no problems. i have had
mine for a long time now and (touch wood) it runs like a dream.
i have a fridge cover on
mine and keeps it way cooler than before. even if i turn it off and leave it in the sun in the car for a couple hours in december/january it remains nice and cool. they are really worth the money. i only bought
mine as i got it half price, but after using it i would not be without one again.
my brother-in-law ran one of those 12v extension leads you can buy on his and stuffed the fridge up. i cannot remember the details and cannot find my manual, but apparently it is something waeco mention will void your warranty. lucky for him (as he is a tinny b@57@4d and waeco fixed it for him free of charge.
cheers
