For the last five years I have been with Land Rover assistance for breakdowns but now that my truck is 5 years old they don't want to know!

So before I join the RAA are there any other suggestions on who to go with?

And let me just say that in the 5 years I have never had to use Roadside assist!! LOL

Probably because you left your vehicle home and did what your name suggests.

hi there

do you think that if you needed roadside assistance, some guy from the local dealer was going to turn up to fix it????

all roadside service for new cars is just a deal with the local branch of IAG.....( N.R.M.A. , R.A.C.Q. , R.A.C.V. )
and we all know how useless they can be, especially considering you drive a landy. ( i can see them scratching their heads now )

If you do a lot of touring it can be well worth the cash. free accom. free towing etc. otherwise its generally a waste of money.

Hi

I purchased a new Defender Extreme in 2001 and once the warranty ran out they indicated that they would not continue to extend Landrover roadside assistance.

I wrote to the Managing Director in Australia indicating that the vehicle was purchased new, fully serviced, and indicated my dis-pleasure that they would not stand by their own product.

They came to the party and renewed it. Since sold that vehicle...

Taking the long view, I reckon a tow truck will get you home where something can be arranged about fixing whatever it is. I gave up RAC asstisance forty years ago and I have never had the need since. I must have saved a lot of money. Mind you I keep the car well maintained and i am still waiting to use that tow truck.

I can't fix a car out in the sticks. so i have had RAC membership on most of our vehicles, and have done so since i got my first car. It is just another insurance and peace mind.Well worth the money, even if only used on rare occasions. Also for peace of mind when a daughter is driving and alone - our boys can get themselves out of trouble on most occasions. Cheaper than other insurances, on which we rarely claim but would not be without.

Join RAA Premium Service. I am sure that Dave from Copley will come and rescue you if you are brokewn down within reach :-)

My missus is a RAA member and although her car is till newish it is a good service in case a glitch hapeens one day.

I used to belong to the RAA but think that the $100plus a year is better spent elsewhere as I have a range of helpers only a phone call away should I get in to strife.

Cheers

I have been a member of the NRMA since I started to drive. Mum and Dad bought me membership for my 17th birthday. Aparently they were worried about their little boy.

I have renewed my membership faithfully over the years but the head shaking has become more intense over the last couple of years.

The roadside coverage is now attached to the 93 Camry that my daughter drives back and forth to Wollongong, it give us a litle peace of mind.

Recently I had a filter blockage on the Patrol and called the NRMA. That was an exercise in itself but when I got through I transferred the coverage to the Patrol the guy came out and fixed the problem. Then I transferred the coverage back to the Camry.

If you have a bit of mechanical ability they do carry a pretty good tool box.

G'day Pom,

You are lucky you never had to use the Roadside assist.

I needed it for a Disco that was less than 5 months old.......
and they were not worth a nob of goats chit......

Cheers
