Hi All
Today I received my monthly copy of the Australian Shooter magazine. I am a subscriber but not a licensed gun owner. The point of this submission is to do with an article written by the National President of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA). In this article the National President of the SSAA, Bob Green, warns about The Greens having the Balance of Power in the Senate and how this could be used to "....blackmail the government of the day to legislate against private firearm ownership" etc, etc. Bob Green then goes on to say that "Anglers and four-wheel drivers will also be in for a rough time by the Greens, with more restrictions and lockouts from public land and marine areas promised." It was this latter statement that got my attention, as I consider the last thing we need in the future are more restrictions on where and how we can continue our use of National Parks, State Forests and the Great Outdoors. Is this something we should keep in mind when casting our Senate vote, or is the article in the Australian Shooter magazine somewhat alarmist and can be dismissed from our deliberations on where we place our vote?
Regards
Brian

Dismiss it completely UNLESS you are a shooter, angler or 4wd nut :)))

Damn, guilty on all three counts.

Robak

I have the same problem. Nothing I do is wrong......it's always those other buggars or the dog who don't understand my thought processes! LOL

Read the same article tonight. Bob has a point, but only time will tell.

The Greens have been heading this way all along.

This is why at the last State election we voted to get another person in {Shooters Party} to help save 4WDing in National Parks / Private firearms ownership / Fishing.

If we had not then a lot more of our National Parks would have been closed to us.

Think of this when it is time to vote as the Greens are not working for us.

Help save what we have and can use.

In my, limited, I acknowledge, experience of people who vote for the Greens they tend to be city dwellers who have a Walt Disney idea of the bush - they rarely venture out there, except for Sunday's on a "Bushwalk" and tend to believe those of us who hunt, shoot, fish, 4WD etc are violators of a pristine wilderness - I get to chat with these people quite often (we all have our crosses to carry :) but it's hard to persuade them of the realities of life.

Gidday Mike

Have a look at Warren Mckay's article entitled "People are animals too" in the same publication mentioned above (page 16).

G'day fellow outdoor lovers. I don't think that the article was alarmist at all - if those buggers get the balance of power we'll really be struggling to be able to enjoy what we like to do - be it shooting, 4WDing, fishing etc.
In most cases I'm sure that shooters/4 wheelers etc are more practical conservation minded than the bloody greenies.
Cheers from the Moose
