Eric, Have you had success with SIX? We haven't managed to get anything useful there and concluded that some politician had announced it was open for business long before it was usable.

What are you trying to get out of SIX? The information in the media was not 100% correct.
Sam.

Maps..(;-> The site states that a plugin must be installed, think I've done that but now can't find any way of doing so, so maybe I haven't, or it didn't instal properly. So far I've managed to open the viewer (takes minutes) and get up a state map. Nothing else seems functional. From what I've experienced the site is in the "real soon now" category and might be excellent when it's finished some time in the not-so-near future. Don't think it's just me either - others I've refered to the site have also given up.

John,
If you can see the state map, the plugin has been successfully installed.
Some of the themes only become available at certain zoom level.
To display different imagery, you need to first enable the layer by putting a tick in the box and then clicking on the white arrow to move it to the top layer. Using the transparency slider, you can then adjust the transparency of the top layer to reveal the next enabled layer underneath.
Also in the top right above the options pane on the right, there is a title Channel: People First. If you click on the down arrow on this and select State First, there are additional themes and imagery that are available.

Another thing, down in the tool bar underneath the imagery itself, you will see a >>. If you expand this, you will get a few extra tools, one of which allows you to print your current view.
The State First channel also gives you access to the Sentinel Fire and BOM weather data themes. There is also imagery of the Maitland floods and the Pasha Bulker.
If you are after the topo maps though, in the imagery section, put a tick in the box next to Topographic Maps (current series) and click on the white arrow and it will display it. You can then, using the themes tab, overlay the topo map index info. You need to select the green box with the pointer in it from the tool bar and then click on the area and in the Properties bar under the tool bar it will display the map name etc.
If you want to know any more John, just drop me a message.

In W.A. there is a similar service www.landonline.com.au - its called Skyview WA - pixel resoluiton is generally much better than Google Earth - it can be as low as 20cm in some cases. Enough to identify the car in my driveway while i was at work !
Also it will only work in Internet Explorer not Firefox.
Good Luck.
