Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would let you know that our teenage daughter and friend who went camping up at the Gorge for schoolies instead of the Gold Coast returned an hour ago just a day and half after they left wet and muddy. They had a great time and want to go again when it is fine but all they could do when they got back was laugh about the mud and rain so obviously it hasnt turned them off camping. Had photos of their set up I must say it would have done seasoned campers proud. Even their dad was impressed.

Well, my daughter did a similar thing. A few years ago, now.

She and her mates camped in the Bournda National Park. Didn't get wet though.

There was a school group camping there with teachers, of course. Poor teachers were having a terrible time with kids nicking off in the night.

My daughter was walking back from the toots in the dark when a teacher asked "Do you go to my school?" to which she replied "I, don't know. Which school do you go to?"

Regards,
Laurie.

My son is doing map reading and orientation as part of his year 9 outdoor ed class, ready for a week long camp next year. He is an Army cadet, and he can read a map and navigate without a GPS. Doing a table top exercise the other day in class, and the teacher said to go a navigate to a certain point, he piped up and said " EH Miss if you take us that way...we are going to end up going down a cliff...."...she let him take over after that....

Just a little worried about this woman going anywhere near the kids when they do go on camp, how the hell is going to find her way back, with out going down a cliff. Certainly glad he has senior first aid and can hold his own the bush, camps with out tent and he likes the food from ratpacks, though they have been banned because of the peanuts. He wants go ADFA and join the regs

This weekend they are having a fun camp for the unit, the last camp till next year, my worse nightmare is now, both sons and hubby are now in auscams.......

Hi Kevndeb,
Our son joined the army just before finishing his chefs apprenticeship so at first his parents werent too happy but it has been the best thing he has done he has had a deployment to East Timor and leaves for a deployment to Iraq in three weeks all this in 18 months since joining. He is excited but scared about going his mum is just apprehensive.
