Hi,
I want to put a UHF into my Prado 2002 model. Where is the best placement of the unit?
Cheers

Best placement for me was to remove the factory double DIN radio, replace it with a DIN-sized UHF with front speaker (like the Uniden UH088 or GME equivalent) and a Radio/CD/MP3 stereo. Can put the micrphone clip just above the aerial up/down switch with two self-tapper screws into the plastic (can't see the holes there).

Forgot to add - I owned two of the 95series Prados in the past.

At the end of the center console (behind the gear levers, nearly under that dash), there is a recess/slot that doesn't seem to be good for much. The small GME UHF radios fit nicely into there. You do need to drill a few holes for the power and aerial cables to pop through at the back. You'll also likely need an external speaker as its not that easy to hear, but it is conveniently out of the way and uses an otherwise useless storage slot.
Otherwise as mentioned, replace the double din stereo with a single din one, and install a single din UHF in the slot left over.

Using a remote head uhf mount under
seat either one or under dash, remove trim away from where you would like to put it and the get some thin stainless steel strip file any sharp edges off and drill holes to fit screws from trim, bend where necessary and refit trim! No holes a little dacking around but better resale value???
Mount external speaker with two self tappers behind trim beside head, use a slightly thicker stainless and bend appropiately. Or if in
newcastle or central coast call me and i will help and get my best mate whois a mobile phone car kit fitter and fixer to help do it!!!
