Hi everyone,

I am currently planning a trip to the CSR next year with a group of people (read mum and dad with friends) as this is their last big trip around Australia. Most vehiclesfuel issues are covered as this is not the first time this trek has been undertaken by these grey nomads. One couple are going to buy a new 200 series when they hit the deck and were wondering what the fuel consumption might be. Has anyone done this trip in a new V8 70 series cruiser this year? Any information would be great. I have checked the trek notes and only 6.5's are entered in the V8 diesel category.

Cheers everyone

Bit hard to give you an answer on a vehicle that hasn't seen the CSR yet :-)) We did see a couple of the new 79series there this year.

But using some imagination and extrapolation:
#1 My HDJ79R gets about 14 l/100k on the Canning.
#2 The new V8 gets the same fuel consumption (Combines Aust Test figure of 11.5)
#3 The HDJ100 are usually autos and are heavier than the 79series and when we travel with one, they get about 15 l/100k.

So I'd be guessing a new V8 200series will come in at about 15-15.5 l/100k on the CSR assuming its driven sensibly and not towing.

Cheers
Phil

Thanks for that Phil,

I think everyone is planning on 20lt/100 as worst case and that way we can all help each other out if the need arises. If we need more than 20LT/100 then I will need to re-mortgage the house ;)
