I have the opportunity of living in Darwin for the next few years from 14JAN08, after being away for quite a few years. Spent my secondary school and some work there until 1997. Last visit 2003. I have a Codan 8528 and would like to know how the tropical conditions may/will/might/can effect the internals, nixie readout, etc whilst in the vehicle. The radio is set up on the original mounting tilting bracket on the rear of the centre console of the GQ LWB and will not have exposure to any outside weather only internal comfort settings. I don't see myself zipping around with the A/C on flat cycle either. Thanks in advance. Dave

Codan make good radios so far as I have learned from messing with amatuer radio. Just keep the garden hose away from the internals and it will be ok.

Even Codans can suffer from mould and chassis rust after a few years in the tropics.
Keep it away from the salt if possible, and keep that a/c handy.
