hi there - so still looking for 17 inch x 8 inch alloy wheels for the nissan gu - obviously originals 17 alloys gu wheels are in short supply at wreckers and tyre places and the nissan replacement $ price is rediculous for an alloy wheel - so have been advised can get 'avanti' and 'allied' after market 17 x 8 alloy wheels to fit the ser 4 gu patrol - have heard / read some ordinary reports about avanti alloys cracking on rough roads so will rule them out - but am wondering what the allied "wasp" wheels are like - any one have any - and i already have a spare set of of near new 17 inch AT tyres worth well over a $grand plus so thats my main reason for not being interested in using 16 inch wheels.
also for the rcord i would prefer aussie CSR and ROH wheels but both are not interetsed in supplying 17 " alloy wheels for a nissan gu - no stock in aus
thanks and see you
greg

There is a mob on ebay who list a set of genuine 17" rims from time to time, they are called Nizzbits (99%) sure.

They will gladly give you a quote on anything Nissan. The sets usually go for around $1200-$1500 I seem to remember

Cheers Stefan

There is a wheel company on the Gold Coast near Southport that supply blanks and will drill them to fit all makes and model vehicles.

Not sure on the name but you might be able to find them under wheels in the yellow pages.

They even modify alloy rims to suit other cars / 4WD.

I was under the impression it is illegal to modify alloy rims in any way at all.
I could be wrong but had a cracked one and couldnt get it welded legally

Graham,
a cracked rim is different to engineering a new product.
As you would not know what other associated stress cracks would be caused by this.
I know they can now also x ray metal / alloy for stress cracks as well.

I know a couple of mate that have had alloy rims widened by this same company, by machining one part of another alloy rim and alloy welding onto another.

Fir enough but I was told its illegal to weld alloy rims at all.
Guess what u get told is not always correct but no one would touch mine and told me exactly that.
Also in good old Kiwi land the same applies. I had one scuffed on a gutter and was told by an enigeer that he wasnt allowed to heat it so couldnt fix it.
Finally got it rolled somehow in a machine by an old guy and it didnt crack and was as good as new.
Did many thou km and was OK.
LIke all rules made to be evaded I guess

Greg.....got a full set of five rims with caps and nuts all boxed up sotting in the shed. I have them advertised on the Patrol forum for $2000 for the lot.
These are the original Nissan alloy's of a 06 GU IV.....17x8's .
I'm in Perth.

Sell the set of near new ATs in the shed, and go with 16s
tires are cheaper, easier to find everywhere, even remote, and cheaper to replace if you lunch another one.
