Anybody using them and if so, what do you think?

Thanks in advance,

Had a set for few weeks.....used them in very wet peet (read black & smelly) mud on 4 different recoveries on a work 4x4 course & very happy......yes a snatch or winch would have worked well however, no real set up, no moving parts, no mechanical advantages or stress on recovery points..... So they have won me.... only down fall is storing particularly after use when their a bit manky.....

Cheers Chris

Max trax are a brilliant recovery item. If you are thinking of travelling alone you need a winch or these. We were travelling on the beach S.E. Sth Aust. and without them two of our five car convoy would have been very wet. One landcruiser snatching a double length snatch and the sinking landcruiser using max trax to help. After a dozen pulls we got him out. You can always crawl up out of danger.
One thing to consider is they really only work with a minimum of all terrains, road tyres will only burn the plastic and melt the knobs down in no time.
Pretty expensive but they only need to save you once.

Thanks for the input folks.

I'd pretty much made up my mind, but at $300 a throw I wanted a little prodding. Got that now and off to buy a set today.

Thanks again.

G'day Geoff,

these might be worth a look too. I saw them being used in a controlled display this year, don't know how they would compare to MaxTrax but I would suggest there is less chance of use of being caught on undercarriage as they are flexible, not rigid like the MaxTrax. However, that in itself could mean they are not as effective in some situations. A lot cheaper that's for sure though.
