OK Problem fixed .

Fixed – it was related to an update I installed late last night. Thanks again.

I have had trouble with "places" for some time now however mine is a different problem to yours, with mine when I open up places the computer jams up and I have to shut the site down to get going again. The rest of the site is OK no problems at all.

I have found it a pain as I am unable to check out the places on this site, the problem could lie somewhere within my computer but would not know where to start.

Cheers

I have an identical problem. Thought it must have something to do with my setup as no one else was making any comments.

Even I still get a blue screen sometimes on Wireless , but I did drop down from 512mbps to 256mbps which also means I can't watch Panel Beaters or other video clips in Bigpond V8 Supercars , or any clips actually, it just freezes up now, I wish Westnet would go Wireless , I would switch back to them in a flash ,

Why don't you check out ADSL in your area if you can get it the rates are as good as Dial up on Westnet , have a look here
Westnet Broadband , you can check and see if you can get at your location and see the rates , switch over to them , and the service is good too.

I just had a look at the Active Plan , what you get, the speed, Cost, and download limit far outstrips Telstra

I am on fire optic cable and still get blue screens and / or lock-ups so it's not just a dial up problem.

But you can't deny or escape the fact that 56kbps dial up is hopeless for large downloads , even a 2mb email would be enough to freeze it up..been there ....had that....NO MORE

Oh and so your on Fire eh it's no bloody wonder you get a blue screen ...

Please send me direct reports on these incidents - If I am not told I cannot solve. There are a number of elements that I can turn on & off to test the problem. Just email me and we can work out a series of tests and a time to run them. If we can fix it then better for all users......

Doug I was adding photos and stuff on the weekend. Yay have some points now. Was having trouble though getting my submitted photos and those already submitted to enlarge when clicked onto. Thumbnails ok but basically the photo wouldn't open up.
Also when doing a bulk upload the site timed out (annoying) so I had to submit individually even though I'm on Broadband ADSL.

BTW there are some amazing photos submitted.

Oz Team we should have a photo comp judged by a poll what do you reckon?

Was just wonsering how big your photo's are that you uploaded, Have a look at the size I upload ,
Type in Mareeba and click on The Beck Museum, most of mine are about that size at time of upload.

Just found your photo's , but are you sure you put them in the right place , They are in Mitchell Plateau Airstrip - WA
instead of Mitchell Plateau - WA . If you want to correvt them into the right spot reupload them into HERE and when done I can remove the ones in Airstrip

The size is maybe just a tad large , the downloaded photo of the camp ground was 141kb,

Doug and others, please note that we do actually want to encourage you to upload the biggest, original hi-res photo file to Places. The system will autoresize them to suit. Doug has been uploading a lot of photos and was exceeding his ISP limits, so he asked us for some advice and we advised him to upload smaller files but this is not the recommendation for all.

Please, if anyone has queries, feedback or problems with Places, email David directly for prompt fixes or accurate advice.
