How is the Telegraph Track at Cape York this year?

We were up at Cape York last year and did the Telegraph Track but as we were finishing headng south we noticed the Telstra guys working their way up the track apparently laying optical cable. With all the bulldozers and equipment they had, I figured it would be wrecked as we had known it - turned into a straightline all-too-easy track with so much Telstra traffic going up and down that the charm would be gone....

So I'd love to hear any feedback from people who have been up this year.

The cable has been laid and the track they made in doing so has been covered over with fallen timber etc etc so that people cant actually drive along the route they took. The only impact on the OTL is that as the OTL crosses the line they made, there is the obvious hump as you cross their trench which has been filled after laying the cable.

You might be interested to know that the dry season before that I escorted an NDC ( back to Telstra again) Dozer from Hann River to Crystal Brook in SA and bigger D10 to Tom Price in WA , Is it any wonder our phone calls are so damn expensive.
