The BIG struts to help lift the floor and tent of my 1997 Campomatic have died.
I have ID them as Stabilus "Lift-o-mat"and have found the size in the catalogue, but I am stumped by the Newtons pressure required. The printed label has disappeared.
I have called a Campomatic dealer, Gainsell, but they have the same problem with no help from Trak Shak..
I would appreciate it if anyone with a Campomatic regardless of year could have a look at the big strut. About half way down is a printed label. I do not know if there even is a number there but if there is, it would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance.
regards Philip A

Our Campomatic is 2001 built with chassis no 2001 , model designation RangerMk3 , bottom gas struts IE; the bigger longer ones , are marked as MDI E0420A F1:700n ,,,,, nothing else to bee seen , depends on 'how" your strus have died but most can be regassed by the mobile gas strut guys.

Don't know if it helps but i just replaced them on an Aussie swag and the pressure was 700 newtons. Have fun compressing them to fit though! I used a rachet strap.

Hi Phil, dont regas them, waste of money, ends up being dearer than buying newies as the regas just doesnt last,at a guess 700n would be pretty accurate to do that job and also as previously mentioned have fun compressing them!!cheers Paul

Wow, thanks for all the great replies.
I did I suppose the obvious thing and contacted the local strut guy.
Mine are dead as the shafts are rusted so a regas is out of the question.
He recommended 700newtons also, and is coming tomorrow with new struts.
So with your input I am now sure that 700Newtons is correct .
Regards and thanks again Philip A

The struts are more likely to be specified as supporting a LOAD of 700 Newtons.
Where (ap.) 1kg.=9.8N the supported load would be 71kg./strut.
The PRESSURE inside the strut to achieve this is measured in kpa, which in simple terms is a metric equiv. of psi

I have an 04 Campomatic - my struts are ok at present but I've met owners who have had several Campos and they reckon replacement is the go when they fail. One owner reported Trak Shak to be worthless for after sales follow up - I did contact them while away at one stage (
suspension issue) and they did not return my call (their answering machine was on - someone told me it is always on, and they don't ring back - could this be true ?).
Anyway - if the fitment is special to Campos........I have been referred to a bloke called Bill Gates in QLD - possibly a former employee of the 'old' Campomatic company (pre - TS) - advice to me was that Bill can supply anything for the Campos........07 3807 0769 .... he's at Logan River Rd Beenleigh.
