Pud and self r travelling to WA in May 2008, across the Nullarbor, but in September when we return would prefer to travel another route such as the Great Central Road, is there anyone out there who has towed a van on the GCR, and if so could you advise if its a straight forward trip or r we better off to come back across the Nullarbor.
Our van is an off road and we have had it across the Gibb River Rd.
Tanks in anticipation

The GCR shouldn't pose any problems unless it rains heavily. The area around Docker can become somewhat boggy.
You drive a V8, check the supply of suitable fuel along the route.

Travelled GCR as far as Parallel Road 2 in July this year road was well maintained up to that point. Fuel at Tjukyirla Roadhouse was $1.90/L for diesel. Road has plenty of traffic and can't see any probs as long as take it easy, its gravel.

Quick question: how is it doing the GCR in December/January? Would be pretty hot, but any major concerns to be had?

If its rained there will be a few potholes or large puddles on the road.
You could ring the roadhouses on the road or maybe the cops at Laverton for an update just before you leave
