Planning on a short trip up through Bourke Lightning ridge next week.

I was just wandering what the weather is like at that time of the year.

I ask as it does seem to be a bit hotter earlier this year (where I am) and don't fancy camping in 40 degrees.

Thanks in advance,

Oldman

We were there a couple of weeks ago on our way back from SA to Tweed Heads and it was raining. Not a very friendly camping ground. Think the weather would be warming up now. The surrounding country was very dry.
We are off to North Stradbroke Isl 1st week in December, now is time to be near coast with sea breezes.
Have fun.

Interesting that you didn't find the camp ground very friendly.
Which camp site was it?
We were in Bourke a couple of months ago and stayed at the one in North Bourke. Kidman's Rest I think it was called, and found it clean and hospitable. It is a few K out of town on the north side of the river, whereas Bourke township is on the south side of a wide flood plain.

It was the one in town near the high school think the one out of town would have been a better choice.

We were at White Cliffs in Sept and contemplated going via Bourke to Coonabarabran, and someone who had just come that way said the one at North Bourke was very good. We ended up going via Nyngan Warren and Gilgandra. I think you would find it pretty warm with very friendly flies thrown in as a bonus, at that time of the year. Cheers and beers from Fred.

Oldman,

Check this out. Chack bottom of same page for Lightning Ridge. Think you'd best be prepared for 40C temps.

It really depends what the weather is doing at the time. It'll be a bit warm (as a general rule).

Again, depending on the season, you may have a bit of fun with flies as well!

Regards

Kim

Flies - I hate bloody flies.

It also seems here that the flies a worse this year as well.

Here in Canberra the flies normally wait till December before annoying you and last year they did not seem a problem most summer. Perhaps it is the election that is attracting them.

You may just be right about that oldman. Plenty of flies here in the Hunter, and with the election next weekend theres plenty of B/S to attract them all over Oz. Perhaps they will ease off by next Sunday or Monday aye.
Fred.
