Apparently Toyota are not allowing scheduled deliveries of the new 200 Series V8 Twin Turbo Diesel to customers due to a mystery fuel problem. Customers expecting to pick up their vehicles are being delayed with no further information forthcoming. Toyota engineers from Japan have arrived to address the issue, very tight lips are not saying anymore.

Toyota diesel with only half an engine and one turbo is equal to a Missin..

Wonder if they are having problems with the poor quality of aussie diesel?
Do they run a diesel particle filter (PDF) in the exhaust to meet Euro IV?
If they do, wonder of they are having the same problem as the NS pajero diesel automatics that have a PDF? i.e. regeneration problems with the PDF.

A few diesel vehicles which are euro III or IV are having problems with the 50ppm sulphur in aussie diesel.
Some places like SE Qld have the 10ppm, but not every where yet.

Yep its meant to be a fuel problem. They are fitting some sort of valve/filter to cope with our dirty fuel.
The way the story goes is they did a test run with a heap of them up north and got a bad batch of fuel.
Would have been a sight to see a heap of broken down 200`s on the side of the road lol( not sure if it came to that but)

Has anybody else noted the issue on another forum about the load capacity on the 200?? The vehicle tare is 2700kg or thereabouts and the GVM is 3300kg giving a load carrying capacity of just 600kg, well down on its competitors.

Just filling up both tanks would have to add 135 kgs to that .

You would not be looking for a steel bull bar would you !

A quick check of websites shows the following load carrying capacities

76 series GXL wagon 810kg
Prado 900kg
Disco 3 800kg
and surprisingly
Patrol 600kg
RAV 4 600kg
All depending on model. Luxury versions are a bit heavier.

Even the Kluger has 700kg capacity...and yes, you would have thought Toyota would have worked on this a lot more given the title..."King off the Road"...really disappointing as I was..(maybe still am) a potential customer...sucker I am . Bought the first 100 V8,,,even the new 200 VX V8 is cheaper than what I paid for the GXV in '98...($96G) I'm looking at diesel this time, the petrol was excessively thirsty.

That's interesting. Maybe BP's new Ultimate Diesel, introduced in WA this month, should be the way to go.

This is from the BP Ultimate Diesel website:

Introducing the new BP Ultimate Diesel - a first for Perth motorists
Perth motorists can now enjoy the benefits of BP Ultimate, in Diesel! This new BP Ultimate Diesel will be rolling out to 40 Perth BP service stations commencing late October.

BP Ultimate Diesel is a premium, high performance diesel fuel formulated to clean your engine to help you get more kilometres per tankful while improving engine performance and lowering CO, CO2 and hydrocarbon emissions.

BP Ultimate Diesel is suitable for all diesel vehicles and has been independently tested to demonstrate benefits with ongoing use compared to ordinary diesel.

BP Ultimate Diesel has been tested in a range of vehicles including passenger cars, SUV’s, LCV’s and utilities. Engine types tested include Direct Injection, Direct Injection–Common Rail, Indirect Injection and Electronic Unit Injection.

NB: Vehicle testing was conducted by Orbital in Australia and at Millbrook proving ground in the UK.

Anti-foaming agent, for a pleasant refuelling experience

BP Ultimate Diesel contains an anti-foaming agent that reduces the foaming that can occur during the refuelling process. This helps you to avoid possible splashback and spillage while lessening the odour commonly associated with diesel fuel, adding to a more pleasant diesel refuelling experience with BP Ultimate Diesel.
Reduced noise, for a more pleasant drive
Noise is a familiar problem associated with diesel engines which can adversely affect your comfort factor while driving. The cetane number of some diesel means the fuel can be slow to ignite and then burns too rapidly, leading to high rates of pressure build up. These poor combustion characteristics can give rise to excessive engine noise and vibration, particularly under cold starting conditions.

As a result of its powerful cleaning properties and high cetane rating, BP Ultimate Diesel can improve diesel engine noise compared to ordinary diesel. BP Ultimate Diesel really can contribute to a quieter drive.

Reading between the lines and cross referencing what they say about their 'new' fuel (less foaming, less 'diesel' smell, cleans fuel system, lubricates components, runs smoother etc) it sounds to me like they have added some biodiesel as all those characteristics come with bio.
