with great news. They're giving me a free upgrade!!!
I can upgrade my Big Pond Wireless Broadband service that I use on my laptop. (Mainly on trips where it uses the CDMA network. not great but serviceable)
Generous souls that they are, they are giving me a free Next G device.
Question is "should I"?
Does anyone have a real life comparison of performance and cost of usage.

You'll have to do it eventually so why not.
I use my Next G mobile for the same purpose and have no problems getting service.
A few others have so you'll probably get some differing opinions.

Most people i have spoken to seem to find the new service very good - great speed compared to the 1x CDMA they used to put up with in country areas.

Telsta CEO has advised the CDMA will go off air Jan 2008 (they will probably extend it?) You dont really need to compare - Next G is it ! ) The hype seems to support the assurances that it will be much better. Just becomes a question of which plan (cost)really. May as
well get out of CDMA now. Cheers

Hi all, we are new to the exploroz site but love reading it. I'm Josh, my wifes Maree and the kids are Julia(6 yrs old) and Jasmine (4yrs old) making up Kidsandall. We headed off in Jan for the big trip around oz. we are in
Andamooka S.A. at the moment after visiting Tassie for 3 months and southern N.S.W.(Currently working to top up bank accounts)My parents joined us in July for the rest of the trip(their "oldsandall").we are using the telstra turbo card next g. To begin with service was limited but we bought an external aerial and service is now very good. It costs us $49 a month for 20 hrs- unlimited download. I think this is a little dear now, think there's cheaper deals available. we use it for emails mainly and checking 4wding sites, weather etc. Very happy with speed etc.Hope this helps and if you you see us camped somewhere feel free to come and say hello.
