I join the growing ranks of disgruntled Toyota customers.
Ordered 70 series wagon in August with delivery date mid November to mid December (yes, 2007). When ordering vehicle, I stressed it was on basis of guaranteed delivery by no later than mid February 08 as I am heading off for 18 month trip around OZ in March/April 08 and need to fit out vehicle first).
In September was advised my vehicle was listed for production in October and would be available for delivery mid December (07).
Friday PM, Toyota dealer advises vehicle not in production until January and would be delivered in March or April. No explanation of why advice only received now when according to dealer, it should have been manufactured by now (ie in October)! Only comments provided were production priority now going to Klugers and 200 series (I guess stuff everything else). NOT HAPPY JAN (mr toyota).
If you have a vehicle (a wagon) on order, you might want to check any (revised) delivery date!
Regards
TD

You could always buy a 3.0 litre Nissan, plenty of them around. :-)

Terry D,
I think your right on the money re production priority.
My new Kluger has incurred less than a 4 week wait.
I can only imagine your pain having to wait further.
Regards,
Garry

Terry,
In light of the current trend for litigation, perhaps you could sue for breach of contract. May even be able to upgrade this to a "Class Action" if there are sufficient cheesed off new cruiser buyers out there willing to support the action.
It stinks, but sounds like a typical toyota reaction ie Take it or leave it.
Disco.

I ordered my Troopy in May, currently they are telling me it is planned for construction in Dec with Jan delivery, so I know how frustrating it is is waiting.
As a result, my list of changes and extras has grown, with more time to think about what to put on it. Making the after market fit out more expensive !
A couple of weeks ago Pacific Toyota in
Cairns had silver one in their lot. They might be worth a call.
Speaking to a couple of different Toyota dealers apparently Toyota are ramping up their production to double it by end of quarter one next year.
On the 200 serires front, I have heard on the grape vine that they are not available until May next year !!!

Where I work we have no trouble getting them, isn't that strange!!!!! Maybe it depends who you are and how many you buy.

We got the same runaround with a new car we bought (not a Toyota, or a Nissan), bare faced LIES from the salesman, promises broken, and no returned calls.
Really took the shine off a new car. Next time I would withhold or put a stop on the cheque for deposit until I saw the white in the headlights.
It really makes me understand why John Howard bought in those hand gun laws!!
These days I would buy thru one or two people I know in the trade, one of whom is an EO member. Stress free purchasing.

G'day Terry,
Just been on carpoint.com.au and there are a few wagons for sale in QLD & NSW . Most seem to be new . Don't know if you can get out of your deal if you can then this may solve your problem.
Regards

Hi all
Thanks for your comments and sentiments. Not sure which way I'll go on the dilemma. Toyota suggested a silver wagon available in NSW but I ordered gold and with factory diff locks. The vehicle type I want is somewhat restricted to towing capability (van 2,500 kgs+), however I may just keep my current rig (standard 100 series 4.2 with DTS turbo) and see whats around in 2 years, probably more alternate vehicle options that may be of interest by then. I can get my deposit back, but am thinking if I go for one later, will the price be right given the current exchange rate for the A$! I'll do a bit more of a search and then decide.
Thanks again

We ordered ours in April and were told six to eight weeks del. Toyota did not contact us at all about the delays and we had to keep on their back and I did not get any reply's about my concerns on their feedback email site or by phone being told to leave a message and they will call back, but not one reply. Did not get Delivery until 1st October one week before we went on holidays. I made sure I made plenty of comments when the survey letter came.

Terry, I dont think exchange rate has any effect on Toyota pricing, really hasn't changed in last 5 years, however exchange rate has changed greatly.

I read with interest your comments.
I ordered a Silver, 70 series GXL wagon with the factory diff locks on the 14th of September. It is a lease vehicle.
The date I was given was January 18 2007. I rang the dealer who the vehicle was to be provided by and asked "is this a realistic date of delivery? ". His reply was that it would not be a problem to have the vehicle then, but it would be plated 2007. I assured him that was ok with me. Last week a call to the aforementioned dealer revealed " a later delivery date than January 18, but it would be 2008 plate". A call to the lease company and a day or so of waiting, I now have an assured delivery of February 28th 2008. One does wonder when I will actually get to drive the new vehicle, and is it woth the wait?

I am starting to wonder whether the issue, late delivery, may in fact be due to rising costs or an intended rising vehicle prices for these vehicles. Following a comment from earlier, I looked at carpoint and noticed two wagons in the "second hand" section, one had 2 1/2 odd thousand ks the other 10ks - one could assume they were both more or less 'demonstrators'. However the 10k car was a few thousand $ more, and the 2 1/2 thousand k vehicle was about $4,000 more, than what I am paying Toyota for my new vehicle with more options!! Something doesn't compute?

We are very happy with the Cruiser and love driving it. It now has 5000ks on it. It's going in for oil and filter change in the Morning.

Thanks Crowe
Good to hear it's as good as I thought it would be. I'm trying not to 'cut off my nose to spite my face' by burning my bridges with Toyota. Will keep at them for a while longer

I have to say I wasn't happy with the wait and got quite upset at times about it when friends asked when I was getting my new truck . But it was worth it now that I have my bum in it.

It took 6 mths to get
mine and let me tell you it was worth the wait so just hang in there. I was also told originally 3 mths but Toyota Australia seem to have little control over what happens over Japan.
cheers and all the best,
stamps

Bit the bullet today and decided keep going with the order. Good to see there is significant interest on this subject, especially your comments and satisfaction from those who have finally got their rigs - hope I can say the same next March/April
