Is that new tracks, or just the topo?
T4A is long overdue for an update.

I've ordered a SP7200 from the US. I am correct aren't I in that the OZTOPO should run on the Garmin when I get it?

Is the idea that I use city navigator around town but OZTOPO when out bush. This is what I am hoping for!!!!!

Yes it will work OK in the SP7200.... but not without Australia's City Navigator , your unit will have American Base Map and No City Navigator Australia,
The idea is that you use City Nav' for voice guidance and in Cities and all Towns, as soon as you get into an area that is not covered by City Nav' then you switch over to T4A,
Why did you get it from USA ???? you will have to spend $269.00 to get City Navigator Australia,
I guess base maps are not important , I never use mine but I like the thought that I bought mine in Australia and get after sales service from the point of purchase,Both my units came with City Navigator Australia installed.

Because it is $800US and even with buying city navigator for Australia it will be about $1000 A

I'll run the risk over warranty as any other GPS I have had has been fine without any troubles and this one has everything solid state so I expect it will be fine also.

I support buying locally but not at twice the price

I agree Alan H. I recently also ought a SP7200 on ebay from the US. then bought city navigator, and OzTopo locally here in OZ. All up cost me about $1200AU, including a Ram Mount for my patrol. I always like to support local, but not when I'm going to get ripped off by $600.

P.S. they still come with a warranty - i bought from a reputable US dealer and they told me if there was any issue to send back, and if a warranty issue they would repair or replace and refund me my postage costs.

Cheers,
Jack180

Hello Doug - the link you provided is actually for OzTopoV2 - doesnt specifcially say if it uses T4A data like OztopoV1 did, are they stll associated? Sounds like a good thing for Garmin users either way.

Any idea if there is going to be an update on the free version of T4A maybe or maybe not associated with this Oztopo update?

Cheers
Greg

OZtopo V1 is comprised of two mapsets, Tracks4Australia PRO and 20M Contours, so would you not asume OZtopo V2 will be the same

Hello Doug - thanks for reply and yes I would "'assume" it to be the same but there does not seem to be any mention of T4A in the description of OztopoV2 (but there is mention of PSMA who are a supplier of Govt data in various formats)...which is why I have become curious, getting impression they have sidestepped T4A crew, but could be wrong. I shall ask on T4A user group and see if anyone can say yes or no for certain.

Cheers

Why change the format and still offer an upgrade , why not wait and see instead .

Dont think the actual format of Oztopo has changed - just the source of data. It does actually state " The road and POI data is supplied and copyright MapData Sciences Pty Ltd, PSMA".

Mapdata Sciences is a reseller of data supplied by PSMA...who get data from various Govt departments - read about them here

PSMA and Resellers

In the OzotopoV2 speal there is no mention of T4A (which get their 250K base data direct from GeoScience Australia) so guessing based on all this that relationship between T4A and OzTopo has been severed...but could be wrong, hence question.

Upgrades of any product are offered to allow existing users to get latest and greatest without forking out all the money - keeps existing users happy and also provides income for seller form people who otherwise may not purchase.

I was just curious, so I asked - thats what forums are for. As mentioned will ask on T4A forum and see what comes out of that, though I could always just ask Brian (GPSOZ) and get it straight from the "horse's" mouth:)

Cheers

Hello - I have confirmed straight from the “horses” mouth (Brian S, GPSOZ) - OztopoV 2 does NOT use T4A data – so they are now 2 separate entities. Good new for Garmin users - they now have another map set to consider.

Information to all who responded to the my thread, I have been in touch with BKK Enterprises trading as GPSOZ.com.au and as Explorer has stated it will have NO connection with T4A, Now If I had called the original POST "New OZtopo V2 coming" most of you would have went ....Duh This is an entirely NEW set upShe said T4A is like comparing kindergarten to Uni , OK so now here's what you will need, you send details of your CD or SD card to BKK Enterprises i.e the serial number is on the rear of the CD case on the bar code , that will entitle owners to an Upgrade for $99 i think it is, They will also before sending the upgrade require you to send the CD and box back to them , A copy of this post will be in a new thread today
