Does any body know if you can glue polystyrene with contact adhesive. If not what should I use?

I'm with Kev, hard to beat liquid nails. Good all round adhesive, and items being glued in place can be held in place with masking tape as clamps. I have glued my blind brackets onto the ply where the screws pulled out and never come off. If using contact let it get touch dry on both surfaces before putting together. Cheers Fred.

Use the liquid nails like contact adhesive, put liquid nails on both surfaces press them together pull the apart leave until the glue becomes tacky then refit again. It stops the material moving from its intended position.
Cheers Kev

You have to use a solvent that will soften and dissolve the polystyrene.
Acetone or Chloroform are the correct glue type.
Also when you are cutting it, use a blunt hacksaw. Sharp saws will cause it to splinter.
Cheers

Epoxy works very
well with polystyrene. Also 3M super 77 spray(this is a very usefull adhesive) I glue polystyrene regularly with these glues.

Silastic (silicon adhesive) won't dissolve polystyrene, is tacky enough to hold it in place while curing, can fill gaps and it's dirt cheap.

Use Selleys Roof & Gutter silicon sealant. Its completely compabable with styrene, its instant grab and it has a longer life than liquid nails (as advised by Selleys themselves)
