Also have a look at Peach Trees
camp ground up near Jimna
its a little further but also a big area
The
Swimming hole is not to good there.
The place I would recommend for Christmas is National
Park North of
Ashford which is a little Town west of
Tenterfield - you will have to contact someone in national Parks NSW to find out details
It is on the Severn River and is approx 6 hrs driving from
Brisbane so its far enough away to keep the brissy crowd away. One of the best spots I have ever camped along the river.Canoe,Swim Fish Bush walk,Mountain Climb, caving ,everything there and it was free when we were there 6 months ago

we camped there about 5 weeks ago and it wasn't that busy probably 20 or so cars but you don't need a 4x4 to get in there and it's only 10 min from the main road, So I am guessing around Christmas it will be packed out. Very nice spot though and the
waterhole is lovely to cool down

Areas 1 and 3 at Boloomba
creek you have to pre book.
We love Kenilworth area, If you've got the family in tow you might want to consider an extra 20min drive and go to Borumba
Deer Park at Imbil.
Cheers
Jo
