The archives gives this light a glowing (poor pun) recommendation. I've been to a couple of camping stores and can't find them, just units made in China that cost a small fortune.

So does anyone know where in Perth (NoR) these lights are available? Also, what should I expect to pay?

Thanks,
Hugh

Expect to pay around $80. I have one VersaLite and a red Arlec copy (now selling in Brisbane for $49). Performance from the two seems the same. If I bought another, I'd probably buy another Arlec given the price

Hugh,

I was lucky enough to win one couple of weeks ago and can vouch for them. Very good light which puts out other 12V lights to shame. Coincidently I was taking to a friend only days before I won it and he was saying he rated it as the most useful item in his camp kit.

Hugh, try www.discountcamping.com.au They are based in South Australia and sell the Versalite. We got ours from there over the internet, along with most of our other camping gear. They provide good, reliable service and have always actioned warranty and refunds with us at their own shipping costs.Moggs ( Normanhurst NSW)

I have purchased gear from Discount Camping in the past with good prices and service. Since they introduced their new website it has left me stone cold it is so difficult and awkward to use and find stuff. Other problem is they no longer have Coleman gear as Coleman stopped selling it to them because they were selling it over the internet and took a few dollars off the RRP. I still get Coleman gear the same price or pretty heavily discounted from other outlets so Coleman achieved nothing. With Coleman doing that to Discount Camping I would prefer to buy other brands, but Coleman do have some good products others do not. If I now have a choice of identical quality I will buy the non-Coleman brand.

A similar quality light that's made in australia is the bushlite available from super cheap auto - it uses the same 11 watt tube.
