Hi all, a bit of a problem was discovered this morning after the recent rains up FNQ this morning. Water was found to be in the cabin on the floor of the driver side only. No coolant, air conditioner & heater working OK, no water marks on windscreen. Where did it come from?? Anyone experienced a similar problem? I'm not sure whether this has been a problem for a few weeks or only overnight with the rain. As the car is always outdoors could the vents on the bonnet under the windscreen be full of leaves??? I took the bonnet vent cover off and couldn't find any water drainage holes or leaf litter. Any tips for getting wet carpet dry quickly??

no water above or around windscreen, but after giving the car abit of a wet down have found drops of water following the wiring through the firewall. Most of this wiring has been run my myself to run extra 12V accesories and UHF power through to cabin. Must have been happening for a while, but no wet damp smell??

I had the problem with my GU when I bought it. Water coming in on the passenger side after very heavy rain. Nissan tried at the first service to find it but couldn't emulate the problem. I pointed to the puddle on the floor, but they shrugged. Reckoned it was the compressor I fitted to the firewall which had contributed to the leak. Said that if the dash had to come out and it was found that it was something I had done, they would have to charge me the umpteen hours at their rates. Hmmmm.
When the windscreen was replaced some time later, I found it! On the original windscreen installation, the black sealant for the windscreen was missing about 1cm at the bottom where the ends of it were supposed to meet. Only let water in during a heavy downpour. Never had a problem since replacing the windscreen.
Full marks to Nissan and their service - NOT!

i had the same problem on driver & pass side & found it was coming in on the wires the come through the fire wall.when parked on the wright/wrong angle the water would run down the rain gutter under the bonnet & drip onto the wires & then run down the wires inside the car & soak the carpet, so stick your head up under the dash where the wires come through & get someone to open the bonnet pour a bucket of water down in the corner & have a look

Yeah I have same problem with my 05 GU. only on passenger side. I assumed it was because I removed the rubber boot that seals the wires through the firewall. I removed it, ran all the wores for fridge, compressor, GPS ANT, suspension adjustment etc through it and then replaced but it is now obviously a whole lot bulkier and doesn't seal as well.. I guess I need to run a bead of silicon around it or soemthing.. well at least I assume it's my fault... might be the windscreen issue mentioned in above posts though...

Problem fixed, a few dollops of silicone on the inside of firewall - and now no water, but now have to pull out the silicone to remove the wiring one day...
