Hi Mark,
I used to stay at "Tropical ......." Tropical Breeze (or similar) on the sth side of town because it was one of those that accepted dogs, I would say from my experience that there would be heaps of better ones than this (if you know what I mean!!). Ammenities OK but no shade in tourist spots and back then the management was blunt to say the least. Served a purpose and that was about it in my opinion.
Happy days up there, enjoy your stay.
Regards, Trevor.

Hi Bigmark,
Where exactly are you intending to work whilst in Mackay?...it may help with the options.
If you want to drive 60+km drive per day,
Cape Hillsborough Resort/Caravan
Park is a nice location.... :-)
BTW, Mackay Marine Tourist
park is right next to the old Dump (still somewhat used for Greenwaste, only decomissioned just over a year ago) and surrounded by environmentally sensitive area (
swamp!) and has little protection from any road noise.......
The Bucasia Caravan
Park (Seawinds Caravan
Park) is being sold as we speak (tenders closed October 23) as it is on
the beach.....though it only has ~40 caravan spots at the moment.
check out
http://www.bucasiabeach.com.au/ for details....

yes it's disgusting what the developers are doing to this town imho, three of the best parks in the state gone from affordable family fun to resorts for the wealthy.
another noosa in the making, hurrumph!

Gooday,
you will find it hard to get near beach all sold for developement.
Try Central Tourist
Park on Malcomson St Nth Mackay.
Usually stop there, not as flash as Andergrove but reasonable rates, heaps of amenities no queing. Owner operators, John & Mary Haber, been there for about 25 years. Good central locatiom and reasonable rates.
Phone Fax-; o7-4957-6141.
Cheers Boroma 604.

I spent 6 months on the Alcahol Plant at
Sarina and stayed at
Sarina Beach caravan
Park
right on
the beach and not that far from Mackay
there is a few quite spots along this part of the coast but as its been a while since I was there , it would be worth a drive through the area

I have only stopped once at a Mackay caravan
park and vowed never to do it again. The
park and the city were great but the location would have to be the sand fly/midgie capital of the world. Unfortunately the damm things will go through ordinary fly screens and you need the type with the smaller holes.
Make sure you are
well prepared with insect repellent, long sleeve shirts etc..
