Cool change

The temp has dropped from a warmish 38C to a cool 20C this evening. The weather report says some rain but I am sceptical as the radar shows the rain passing us by. So all of you who live to the east of the mid north of SA...a cool change is on its way.

Trouble is the predicted temps will be rising steadily again over the next 7 days.

The heat of summer only starts here in the first week of January and then it rarely drops below 35C until the end of March.

Cheers

I have renamed those non rainbearing clouds from 'MT Returns' to 'Kovacs' just to remind me of the second hand weather from the west.....hahahahahaha

Willie,

We're just getting it in Melbourne. Mind you, I'm still on the back porch in shorts and bare feet.

Looking forward to it being cooler in the factory tomorrow.

Cheers,

Jim.

Yup... I'm watching the radar and it looks like the rain is separating around bluddy Mt Baw Baw and missing us! I south of Traralgon... still watching.

Can't complain though. We're having a beaut spring and dams are full.

We have had a good rain year as well and at preent we are 27mm over the annual average. Countryside is lush green but the rains came too late for the wheat farmers,

Gday Willie,

Had to deliver a computer out on the edge of Sunset, near Taplan Gate tonight. Dusty hot track when we out at about 5.30pm, returned around 11pm with muddy tracks and heavy rain, the wind must have been up around 25 to 30knts.

Pretty bad conditions to drive in and nearly got a Skippy head on... Is great to see the rain we had another fire out near Loveday area, that should be under control now.

I measured 13 mm this morning, heard on ABC that Taplan had over 30 and some parts got 50 mm. The fire should be all but out by now I should think, although some of those big old red gums will still be smouldering.

Garbutt, I just heard the same report this morning... Now I know why I had an interesting drive home. I took my shoes off when went in the house to do the PC setup out there, one of them is somewhere in a paddock out on their property. It was blowing its T***s off out there, so when we came out to leave both of me treads were gone. We found one but the other is now an artifact...

Garbutt, You should have bought our place. We had nearly 18mm last night. I guess that's the difference between Upper Berri and Lower Berri.
better not wear your shorts tonight.

Hello Willem,

It was 42 degrees here yesterday until the change came through late. Overnight we've had 16mm and it's still raining. It's great for the fires to the south and north of us. A big relief to all concerned there.
Ray is having an enforced rest day from harvesting...a mixed blessing this rain. Still the gardens and the tanks are soaking it up and in.

All the best

Viv

Hi

Last time Labor (Bob Hawk) won government from the Coalition the drought broke.

I'm betting that the drought will break again when Kevin07 romps into government on Saturday.

Hi Willem,

Yeah that was some "change" in the weather alright The wind was unbelievable here in the Hill last night. Bit of rain and still little scuds coming thru this morning.

At 8am yesterday it was 29deg and at the same time this morning it was 14deg (if you include wind chill it was about 10deg).

Weird weird weird.

Surprised it didn't drag a heap of dust along with it actually. That's what normally happens with these big weather fronts.

those big dust storms are usually late march -Into ApilAnd are caused by D head farmers either gambling on an Early start or Seeding after first rain that time of year. Used to see it year after year -bit of rain and the Tractors hit the padocks then the Summers last gaspwould hit drying everything out before winter. any big winds would pick up there padocks and move them else where.
I always thought after xxx generations they would have got it but NUP

Just got home after spending from 4 am to 8.30 am stuck on the side of a dirt road where 81 tons just slid sideways thanks to the rain near Mildura.
