Hi is anyone familiar with Kinkuna up near woodgate, thinking of a trip up there around xmas, from what i can gather the best access is from the northern end.
Any info from people familiar with the area would be much appreciated

Hi jedboy70
yes the best access is from the northern end, and you must be fully self sufficient, no shops close by. if it has not rained the track to the woodgate side will be.
we are going up to the other
camping area near walkers point for.
you may want to check with the local rangers/epa, i heard they were making Kinkuna a pre booking
park.
it is a great spot and the fishing is good, off
the beach.
i know you will have a good time up there if you go.
cheers

park near a sand
mine lease that you can
camp do u know about this?

Been there a couple of times. I believe the areas south and north of the national
park are free. best bet is if you come in from the northern end is to then drive south along the back of the dunes till you leave the national
park then see if there's space. Northern end will be busy as there are permanent camps set up up there.
Nice big area with relatively few visitors just after new year will still prob be busy
Enjoy

Hi Jedboy
Great place. 4WD access from Bundy side on Goodwood Road.
We book through the net. You have to be self sufficient including
toilet arrangements. Find your own spot. Fishing is varied. I've been told the trawlers get pretty close in and give
the beach a bit of a hiding.
I would imagine it would get pretty crowded over Xmas. We go every
easter and make sure we get there early on the Thursday before to get a
camping spot.
Cheers
Howard.

HI jedboy70.
The northern access is certainly the better access.
If you are doing any beach driving, watch out!! I found the sand to be quite tricky in
places. Totally different to the sand on Fraser or Straddie.
Could be quite crowded over the Xmas period however you will certainly enjoy yourself.
Regards.
Vince

Jedboy70,
Finally caught up with the mate, they came in from the sth access,Woodgate end.
Said it was Ok, they towed an older model campervan with a petrol D/C Rodeo.
When you come past the self registration booth about thirty or so meters past it swing to the right, stay up off
the beach and follow the track toward the sth end of
the beach, I believe that is where the
camping area outside the N/P is.
Hope this helps, have a safe one.
