Hello - no sign of the new Tritons GPS units yet but Magellan have released new software that will work with explorist.

VantagePoint Software Download Page

Info cut from another forum -

"It is a 33M download. Installs o.k. No manual and no help file(I
haven't found one yet). It recognizes my 500. I can add maps that are authorized for the 500.

Some quick impressions:
1. The Route Tools page shows promise. Under Preferences, one can choose a) fastest time, b)shortest distance, c)least use of freeway, d) most use of freeway, e) avoid toll roads and f)pedestrian. The big question is whether the functionality carries over to the Triton.

2. Also in the Route Tools page, there is a "Find cache along route" button!

3. Under Library->Media, apparently one can add all kinds of media
files(jpg, gif, bmp, png, wav, mp3, ...). Obviously these are for the
Triton series.

4. Under Library->Exchange(import)->Waypoints, one can add all kinds of waypoint files, including Gramin's .gdb and .pcx files.

The biggest disappointment so far: I tried to import a .gpx geocaching file created by MapSend Lite V2, and VantagePoint gives an error message. It can read a .gpx file created by VantagePoint itself. I wonder whether it can read a .gpx file created by geocaching.com."

Among other things it sounds like you can easily create your own maps that will upload to GPS (eXplorist and Triton models). BONUS. Havent tried it yet so can not confirm anything myslef.

Have Fun

Cheers

I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874
