From Thursday Aldi will have their Tevion navigators on sale for $229, only one problem they have the "Latest Sensis Whereis Software"....And will have to be updated by contacting someone in your local Sensis office which I think is in Callcutta....

Can't beat Aldi for customer service try it for 60 days if you dont like it they will refund no question as long as you have a docket and the original packing cant better that also if it plays up they will pay courier pickup and return to your door

Think you will find that just about ALL the brands available in Australia use the Sensis mapset. Sensis also own Yellow pages so they have a big interest in mapping and localisation.

Sensis is itself owned by the Big T (Telstra) and was created as a spin-off of the monopoly directories business (White pages/Yellow pages).

It might be called City Navigator or something else but I can just about guarantee that it is powered by Sensis data. There is a new competitor that I think is currently in a "mapping data acquisition" phase and that may bring prices down further.

Location based searching and selling, where your device points out what is around you and directs you there, is one of the biggest growth markets at the moment.
