Only 2 weeks left until we leave for the big trip around the block. And we are very excited (having trouble sleeping) everything has been i preparation for months now and finally the day is almost upon us i will be posting when i can on here with details of where we are and for any advice along the way . I have 1 question now if anyone can help i have a 130ah deep cycle battery and am planning to charge it off my generator through a 3 stage charger 12 amp...I was wondering want the expected recharge time would be if i only let the battery run down to 50% then recharge it? I was hoping that i could charge it on the road sometimes maybe whilst i stop for lunch and a cuppa but not sure exactly how long it would take to recharge...I don't really want to run the generator all day recharging the battery if i can help it (it is one of those digital inverter type quite ones but still don't want the humming all day if i can help it!) And before you solar buffs start up i don't have time to go solar so just need to know what approx recharge time might be( need to know iff i need to duck up to
the beach once a week with generator and battery for half a day to recharge it). If anyone want to know more about the trip or just wants a chat you can email me on beauseiden@yahoo.com.au

Hi lad, how long are u going for 6mths 1 yr or get there when u arrive will be doing the same March next year for a minimum of 8 mths first up then back to work for a short period assess or overall position then it may be lets just get out & just keep crusin along.
Have fun in every thing that u do because life if to short.

A very loose 8months depends on weather and if we like some spots will probably stay longer will be noting any spots we particularly like for further exploration at a later date so this is a first of many trips the one to find the secret spots so to speak this time round going around outside but hope to get into interior in the future also sounds like you have similar time frame to us we plan to spend four months down the bottom four up the top just to suit the weather but time frame is flexible hope to see you on the road

We spent 5 years on the road with a single N70ZZ battery 110ah.
If you should flatten your battery or take it down to 50% and need to charge it, then just run the genset connected to the battery to give it a top up charge and then start your engine after 5 minutes. It won't take long for your alternator to bring your battery up to normal again at idle speed.
