Crackles
Have an old Garmin GPS II+ that has served me
well for nearly 10 years but it has started to lose a few lines of the LCD screen. (Everything else working) Is this a terminal issue not worth fixing or is there a simple solution I haven't heard of?
Cheers Craig..............

Ditto to Owen - when it won't do what you want, in the bin. Apples for apples, a new one will be a lot cheaper and do a lot more than the old one ! gpsoz.com.au pricing and service are hard to beat (free delivery).... I have no connection with them.

Dont think I'll bother with a road navigator & probably wont even get anything with detailed maps. Really just need something basic with coordinate imput, a navigation screen & a simple base map.

You could always just use it with moving map using Oziexplorer on your laptop. Don't really need a screeen for that. I have one and that's about all I use
mine for now.
Cheers

I totally agree, or you could give it to a good home that can't afford a gps but does have a laptop, it will still get them out of trouble
I've had the 11+ many years ago and the screen also died on me
What ever you get make sure it has the same round plug for power/data connection. The etrex has a different connection
Cheers Kenny

Already have a Bluetooth GPS Kenny to run Oziexplorer but really liked the II+ for cross country driving to show cross track error and ETA to a waypoint. The laptop is good but would prefer not to run it for long periods to avoid overheating.
Not in a hurry for a replacement so we'll see what comes available over the next year particually DVD/GPS units that fit in the dash.
