Hi,

Santa has just bought me a Suzuki Vitara, cause I was good and he sold the second LandCruiser. Can anyone help with where I can start looking for a new Soft Top for this vehicle, current one is okay but my little beauty would look better with a new dress to wear!! LOL

Your help prior with roof gutter strips helped to sell Crusier, so I am hoping for a good response to this question. Many thanks in advance.

Debbie

Hi Debbie R,
well it must have been those trims that did the trick.
Well done.

Try a marine upholsterer as they deal more with the elements of the weather conditions, you may pay a bit more but worth the difference in the long term.

Hope you get a good run out of the Suzuki.
Cheers

Hey 96,

Thanks for the heads up, just found a business card for a canvas guy at Tinitinara SA thought I might get a quote from him but yeah will try the boat places.

Can't wait to get my little baby (been wanting one for yonks), two more sleeps (yeah I'm just like a kid waiting for Santa) they have to do a couple of things for me then I can go try her out, bet hubby and my brother wont first try though on the pretence that they have to check that she is safe for me to drive LOL

Cheers
Debbie

Sounds like you have some good teachers over there.

With the fittings make sure that they use Marine grade ones and after you get it, make sure you up date your insurance company and let them know the quality of it just in case.

We have listed everything in both our vehicles that is not standard, as we had a small claim awhile back and the assessor pointed out if: that got stolen / damaged or what ever you would not have a leg to stand on.

Until you get your soft top, remember others will be able to hear you singing "Jingle Bells" while driving around.

Merry Christmas

96,

Good point about insurance, I hadn't thought of that for Totti (thats her name), done it with the Cruisers and Caravan etc.
Your comments have been noted and I thank you.

We also hope you and yours have a SAFE silly season

Debbie,
here is a new one on ebay, it is a marine grade with welded seams so won't leak.

Thanks Bob,

Was running around in Hubby's petrol Cruiser cause he got a Diesel before he sold our first Cruiser, secretly I don't think he really wanted to part with her. But I planted the seed for Christmas and did a little preparation for her sale and it happened. Hubby and I went looking for my dream car, couldn't see the sense in using all that fuel for the limited k's I do in a normal working week. My baby is a 97 soft top Vitara, shinny Black (I know hot car) but I can take the top off and cool down real quick, plus we live close to the beach so all's good. Now instead of a two car tag a long we can have three. (just once anyway)

Looked at ones on Ebay but I thought I would ask the opinions of the people here before I took the wrong step.

Thanks for your response
Debbie

Look on ebay. I bought a good one for a couple of Cs.
The Classifieds and Trading Post.
And if you want a really good one, you can buy one directly from Bestop in the USA on the net.

Philip,

Thanks for that, could you please advise which state yours came from (I can then ascertain which supplier on Ebay) or was it from a private person. Looked and there seems to be like a $200 price difference, obviously quaility of material used. Not in a real huge hurry, can wait not quite sure what road to go down which is why I have asked for feedback. Will look at the USA site thanks.

Cheers

The one I bought was second hand from Melbourne.
New ones in Australia seem more expensive than buying a new one from USA.
And I do not think the quality is as good as Bestop. I had an old Bestop on my 91 and I bought the second hand factory one for my daughter's 97.

Hey Dave,

Santa thinks I've been good (not so). I got the trims for the Cruiser touched up a bit of paint work, took all the stickers off, gave her a quick tub. Shinny looked good, hubby asked me what I wanted for Christmas. Yeah right he knew I had been looking at Suzuki's on the internet while he was at work but I wasn't allowed to have one till the second Cruiser went, no forsale signs on it yet, what to do, I just gave him that look - yeah you guys know the one LOL Took some time off work Friday arvo took him down Port Road to look at car, okay time to deal what can you give me for Cruiser as a Back Trade. Nah not interested in price offered, was an insult, went all the way back home. What do I do now I wanted that car, puppy eyes Sat morning, (I had secretly left a message on internet site for another car I saw asked if they would Back Trade on that particular vehicle) guy rang and said hard to do on phone come out and we'll talk (yeah they were interested or wouldn't of said come out) Packed lunch and waterbag, after a test drive I'm interested, hubby was ready to deal, embrassment plus, hubby hadn't had much sleep the bantering started and got out of hand at times. Anyhow he stood his ground ended up with money in his pocket and my new car Tonka Tot (Totti). He was happy so am I.

If looking in car yards, pays to ask if they would back trade, got basically same as if he had sold privately

Cheers

Hi Debbie gotta love the zuks, had 4 of them. 2, 3 door chino's and 2 vitaras. 1 grand vitara and one JLX. Both top vehicles only reason I got rid of them was ground clearance issue's. Wife now already wants to get rid of her 12 month old car and get the new Vitara. Dont think thats going to happen. Sold camper so Im thinking a new coromal or jayco will be coming first. Ill have to try the puppy eyes but Ive got a feeling she will just laugh at that. All the best with the new Totti and hope all goes well and I think they should try it out first to make sure its ok for you to drive LOL. Regards Steve M

Steve,

This one's just for me to run around in, however I told hubby and brother that I do want to take it away with us one trip. We will just go somewhere close so I can have a little fun. We still have the Diesel Cruiser that we will use for big trips.

Remember your wife is a wise lady (give her what she wants), I'm sure then the puppy dog eyes will work LOL

Best wishes
Debbie
