Just about to install a boost gauge and was wondering the best place to pick up the boost reading from.
From what I have gained through reading and posting on other threads, the tubing in the pictures below seems best place.
But am trying to get as much info as possible before I go and either cut the tubing to insert a plastic T-piece for the pickup line.
Any info/pictures would be great.
cheers,
Sam

That spot will be fine Sam. You could either tee into the line or substitute the existing elbow that the hose fits onto with a suitable tee piece.
Cheers

can only really be in one place. Between turbo and intake manifold and easiest is t-piece into wastegate tube.

Hi Sam,
I have loaded a photo in my rig pics of my boost gauge line and where it is mounted to the elbow just before intake manifold. All bits and pieces were found at my local hose supply
shop and it was very easy to install. No drilling/taping just unscrew existing thread and screw new bits in.
Hope it helps. Sorry, for some reason I can't upload a photo to this response so you will have to look on my rig pics for yourself.
Regards, Trevor.

Thanks for that Trevor.
Looks like they changed the elbow between 2000 and 2001 as I am pretty sure
mine doesn't have the port where yours does. You also seem to have a different pipe leading from the turbo across the engine block to the inlet manifold.
But that does help though.
So thanks again for that!

cheers,
Sam.

Sam,
I have added a front mount i/cooler which is why the piping across the top of engine looks different. The whole setup had to be custom made due to 2nd battery being where the Safari i/cooler pipes come in.....long story but basically fabricated all what I needed from bits I had.
Cheers, Trevor.
