This one.

Anyone has extended experience with it? I have got one yesterday and it bl00dy fast! It only 3 times slower then my 240V garage one! I am planning to install it permanently and hook it up to receiver. Only suspicious what I have is reliability.
Any comments?

Thanks

KSV. I bought one before easter this year and have too found it very quick.

I did however have one problem which I have since fixed. I found the in line 50amp fuse was getting so hot that it was starting to melt.

I replaced it with a new 50amp fuse, which by the way appeared to be much more "heavy duty" than the original 50amp fuse. Also, when I changed it over I discovered that there still existed a fair bit of rubber moulding within the fuse housing which I feel was adding heaps of resistance in the first place, hence the heat build up.

I cleaned up the excess rubber, inserted the new fuse and have found it faultless since then. Performance is awesome.

I don't reckon you can go wrong for the money.

Funny - I have a single cylinder chinese unit which has had plenty of use.

The rubber feet did die early on, and were replaced by a piece of old rubber and decent bolts to hold it down.

Then last week, one side of the fuse holder connection broke off - the cable, alongside the solder. The fuse itself, though still working, was rather melted (the plastic part, that is)...

I am waiting to buy one of these dual cylinder ones too...

Thanks for replay. How heavy your usage? Have you tried to use it 30 min non-stop?

I also have BushRanger MaxAir for a year or so. I was planned to use it in permanent installation, but decide to go for Projecta one. Two reasons – Projecta much faster and I feel uneasy to not have redundancy at all in such vital thing as air. So plan been – permanently install and use Projecta and lug MaxAir as back-up. I have inspect Projecta’s air filters and find that although they share same housing as MaxAir element itself looks rather el-cheapo comparing to MaxAir where filter looks very well done. So I going to replace filter elements, rid off switch gear, upgrade receiving pipe to copper one with heatsink and bolt it permanently in left rear quarter.

Cheers

Got one as a Xmas present last year, cost then $135 from Coventry Motors here in Perth. At the 4wd show the other week they were being flogged by Repco for $195 with a sign saying they were marked down from $300 + dollars. I've given mine a real hammering. One fault is the cheep and nasty hose valve clamp on the end of the hose that clamps onto the tyre valve. I swapped it for a screw on fitting I've got from my old compressor. Other than that an excellent unit. Oh yer swapped the bulky plastic container for the canvas bag my old compressor came in that's nowhere near as bulky and easier to stow the compressor in..

Yep, I have had one for a few months. Certainly pumps some air.
Now I find that I keep over-inflating my tyres, then having to let a few pounds out again.
Used mine about a dozen times so far with no drama.
Don't rely on the gauge though....it's wildly inaccurate.

Cheers.

Those compressor gauges is separate story indeed! I can not get why they marked for 250 PSI while in reality I never need more then 40? Thus using very small part of beginning of the scale make those gauges in all compressors what I seen utterly useless. I never trust them and always carry proper one.

Beware of huge price differences. I bought mine at Auto One for 199, have seen them for 100 bucks more.......
Only criticism I have is also the fuse and the switch which is way underrated for the job (15A. Thinking about fitting a better rated one although it would not fit in the same space, so would have to be in-line.
Also the gauge is not accurate, but that may vary with each unit.

I am also interested in this one. I currently have the Projecta Cyclone single cylinder and my only complaint is the thermal cut out it too good ie switches off by itself too often and takes a long time to pump all 4 tyres up.

Cheers

good unit . main problems appear to be in the wiring & fuse area . also spring in chuck useless. upgrade these bits and it should be good. some off the prices are over the top . got mine from coventrys in perth for approx $130.00 last year. agroe
