I was talking to an ARB rep today about a
suspension upgrade for the cruiser.
To my surprise, he recommended that I DO NOT upgrade my torsion bars unless I have over @80kg on the front end. (bar work and winch) To do say would be too stiff, he thought.
Anyone got any comments on that? I thought it was a good thing to upgrade?
cheers

I just bought an 05 100 LC TD GXL manual - it came with weight in the front via a Warn 9000 and an ARB bullbar, plus auxilliary battery - it had an ARB
suspension upgrade from new (Emu shocks, bars and coils) - did not drive it previously of course - it feels very smooth in the front to me - without that weight, he might
well be correct re stock bars..... if you are not adding front weight, you should be able to achieve front lift via a tweak on the existing torsion bar adjustment - far as I recall, you should not look for more than 35mm or so with this IFS anyway.

Andrew
I bought an 01 TD IFS earlier this year and although I was happy with the standard
suspension as it was, I found I was too often bottoming out on the bull bar and rear bumper in sandhills.
I then did a
suspension upgrade - Bilsteins, rear springs, torsion bar and drop dif, done by Alltrac.
I did
Birdsville and the Simpson in Sept and am very happy with the result, both ride and handling were improved.
Although I do have a third battery under the bonnet, a Toyota factory fitted winch and alloy bullbar, I doubt you would not be happy with upgraded torsion bars fitted to yours.
cheers, Dalb

Not too stiff.
Mine rides beautiful. My concern is weight in the rear. I have an arb twin wheel carrier, roller draws etc and find the back a bit bouncy.

I put an ARB/OME kit on
mine on the day I bought it. Including T/bars, Springs & Shocks. So I haven't been able to compare before and after. But I'm very happy with the result.
Did a long outback trip in 04 lots of corregations and did not spare the horses. In fact corregations are better taken at higher speeds if safe to do so. I had no shocker fade.
I have an ARB Sahara Bar and XP9000 Winch. Now done 90ks and all still working fine.
