I have been looking at Explore Oz for some time and decided to join. I check the forum quite often, I just love the Fridays.

I have recently retired, 3 years early, just had enough of the rat race, and have recently moved from Brisbane to Nanango to get away from the rat race.

I wanted to sell up and travel, but my better half wanted a base, so we are in the process of moving to a new home. I have recently bought a caravan for our travels and are actually living in it until final settlement on the house.

I emigrated to Australia in the early 60s and have travelled a fair bit on the east coast. We have had caravans, camping trailers and tents for most of our lives and have loved every trip we have ever made.

We are now looking to travel the rest of the country and will do so in the next few years all going well.

I am into bush walking and photography and I hope that we can meet up with some of you on your excursions around the country.

Bloody good luck to you mate. Im hoping to do exactly the same in about 6-12 months. My SWMBO also cant bear not having a base to come home to. The bushwalking and photography sound good to me. Have a long and happy travelling life.

cheers pop

Onya Mike.
Bit of a mixed message in your post. Are YOU into the outdoor bit, but Lady is less inclined?
Gees Buddy, I could use a Housekeeper whenever: especially if she likes animals.

Hi Jeff. The wife is just as keen to get on the road, not so much into the walking, but does it anyway.

Welcome Michael.
You have certainly picked a nice spot to set up house.
I am in a similiar position to you as wife wants to travel & have a base to return to & chill out.
We will have to stay in the Tweed region(as we have no water restrictions!!!).
Regards.
Vince

Vince, I am just glad to get out of the city, I should have moved to the country years ago.

Hi Michael,

Welcome to the jungle, be wary of the crow eaters, they are the lions of this site and will bite as soon as your back is turned hehehehe!!!! Lions by looks pussies by heart.

Bruce and Anne are up your way, drop them a member message, Bruce knows the local tracks and has a beast to tackle them as well. Probably a tad younger than you guys but I am sure there is common interest there somewhere LOL!! Drop me a line when you are in Brissy way and we too can catch up.

Best regards,
Trevor.

Thanks Trevor, Settlement on the house is this friday so will be busy for a few weeks, but will certainly contact Bruce and Anne. We used to come up this way years ago, used to visit the 7 Mile digigings with gold pan and metal detector.

Now Bonz, which flag do I fly ?

Flag?
Which Flag??
Michael: NO flags: True.
Carry a chest full if you must. (I maintain that the best sand flag is a red bra from an op shop. May not zero in if The Lady happens to be driving. )
Trust me.
Jeff.

Lucy is an equal opportunity flag napper, so as long as you only want to see your flag all over the world in pics online, whatever flag you choose is up to you

Well Welcome Michael, you'll know what a wealth of information this place is, and photography and bushwalking just complements the whole Exploroz philosophy.

See you on the track one day mate

Welcome aboard Michael and hope you enjoy Nanango as its a nice area I go that way to Boondooma Dam for some fishing every now and then.

Of course I concur with Trevor don't worry about the Sth Aussies they are a bunch of pussies :) but do try an growl in an effort to show superiority. Best let them go and laugh on the inside lol.

Brian
