G'day Twintrail

Good to hear your Troopy is going fine.

No doubt you and The Rambler had a good trip.

We met at Buttefly Spring in Limmen NP and you shared some coconuts with George and me.

Cheers

I can remember years ago if you got a new vehicle and if it didn't use oil in the first 1000mls then klms back then, something was wrong.

As the first oil put in the new engine is to help run it in, bed everything Rings / Bearings and so forth.

If you don't want it let me know and will give you my postal address hahahaaaaaaaaaa

Phillip,
New engines should use a little oil. I bought the better half a Mazda 6 last year and it used about half a litre of oil after 2000kms. It now doesn't use any oil (well it better not).
If they dont want it because it uses a bit of oil I will take it..............haha

Enjoy the toy

G'Day Rob,

Just a question.

Are you certain the oil level dropped or did they just not fill it at the factory?

Common practise at factories now to not fill up to the dip stick mark.

1 litre per car - 100,000 cars per year = $$$$$

Rolande,
I checked the oil level when I drove it home and it was full at brand new. But I forgot to mention that the Mazda Service manager mentioned that they do use a 'thinner oil' from the factory for running in purposes and that a little consumption is to be expected. It now does not use any at all.
Like Roothy (4x4 mthly) I use Penrite in my 80 series and have no consumption of oil. Slightly thicker grade of oil in higher temperature but thats what you need.

Thanks,
Rob
